About Us

History

The Faculty of Agriculture was established in 2001. In May 2002, the pioneer set of One hundred and nine (109) students were admitted into 100 Level for the 5-year degree programme (B.Agriculture). The Faculty took-on with three (3) Departments viz, Agricultural Economics and Extension, Agronomy and Soil Science and Animal Science. In 2009, the then Department of Agronomy was split into three (3); Agronomy, Soil Science and Crop Protection Departments. In 2014, three (3) new Departments were established (Food Science and Technology, Fisheries and Aquaculture and Forestry and Wildlife Management). These offer the following programmes respectively, B. Food Science and Technology, B. Fisheries and Aquaculture and B. Forestry and Wildlife Management, respectively. Currently, there are eight (8) academic Departments in the Faculty offering five (5) degree programmes:

B. Food Science and Technology,
B. Fisheries and Aquaculture and
B. Forestry and Wildlife Management.

Message from the Dean

"It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of Agriculture, Bayero University, Kano website. The Faculty of Agriculture is one of the eighteen (18) faculties of the University which was established in 2001. The Faculty currently has eight academic Departments with over a hundred academic staff in diverse fields of study. This is complimented with about fifty (50) non-teaching staff and thirty-seven (37) technical staff. The student population is over a thousand across the undergraduate programmes with about three hundred (300) postgraduate students."
